... of it and on to something else but I think my father has a fear that his arythmias will worsen and perhaps cause him to die. He hates this drug and the side effects of it but feels powerless. Any help?
Been on Amio for 6 years n have bad side effects n still get A Fib. Does the Amio stop his A fib or just not as intense? I've been talking to my DR. about switching as I feel doesn't help me. I'm 60 how old is your father? Going to DR. next week to ask again about switching but they scare the heck out of you. I understand how he feels what does his DR. say?
I was taking Amiodorone/Cordorone for 5 years with all the side effects, I was always unsure of the benefits as I still had the A.Fib, I was taken off of the drug when a routine check showed my thyroid was shutting down, no weening off period just an abrupt stop. The alternative given was to stop taking Previscan for my INR and the Amiodorone and change to Pradaxa. No noticeable change in the A.Fib but my thyroid works again and now I am diabetic (Type 2), did Amiodorone cause it... No idea?! My doctor says that there is no alternative, directly, for Amiodorone and I am managing my condition with diet and exercise, probably no help but it just seems to be a case of grit your teeth and do the best you can, probably no help but... good luck for the future.
