... effective for this, but also has a great effect to her stability and mood. She can be... difficult under normal circumstances, and talks turn into arguments quickly. But with the Ambien, she can have a great discussion without the blow up. This leads me to believe she may benefit from a drug like this but without the drowsiness. So my question would be, is there a drug that effects the user similarly, chemically - that can be taken during the daytime hours?
Ambien binds to GABA receptors and has somewhat similar relaxing effect as alcohol. The problem with any drugs that act in similar ways is that they are quite addictive. You should consult a doctor about this issue as managing psychological issues with Ambien or alcohol, even though it may seems initially effective, will ultimately only lead to much more serious health issues. This is a very dangerous path.
