... facing a class
Ambien like all medications has adverse side effects. One of the warnings is DO NOT CONSUME ALCOHOL WHEN TAKING THIS MEDICATION, DO NOT OPERATE A MOTOR VEHICLE. Alcohol too can cause black outs or periods of behavior when the person appears to be awake, lucid and functional but has no recall of the events that transpired during a time period. Don't drink, take meds as prescribed and if it happens again stop the medication and contact your doctor. Ambien is a drug of dependence and when combined with alcohol can lead to death.
It is dangerous to mix alcohol & just about any drug. Ambien already has side effects that can cause you to do things you don't remember. I imagine that alcohol would intensify this side effect. My daughter is bipolar & I wondered if maybe you also had taken medication for that as well. Please, for your own sake & for those you love -don't mix these medications without and certainly with alcohol.
I'm not judging you at all. I know that being bipolar can cause depression & mania. And, when we're depressed we aren't thinking clearly. I know that I forget things that I have done while taking Ambien alone. And it makes you feel just awful.
Now to the legalities of your question -
May I ask a couple of questions? Did they take a statement while you were under the influence of alcohol & Ambien? Were you coherent enough to even remember the interview? I can only offer my opinion as I am not an attorney. I think that your bipolar condition will actually help some. Unfortunately, because you mixed alcohol with Ambien, I'm afraid that may count against you. Only because it clearly states that you should never mix the two. I hope that your husband wasn't injured & I hope that he can forgive you. I know how difficult depression and /or bipolar can be. I wish you all of the luck I can. And, I hope you can forgive yourself as well.
