I have had Major Depressive Disorder for most of my life, was not diagnosed in 1987. I keep thinking back to my childhood and am starting to remember the signs, behaviors that make me realize, now, how bad it was, even in 1st and 2nd grade. All I feel right now is sorrow and shame.
I would recommend asking your doctor/pharmacist. I'm sorry you're feeling sorrow and shame, but the irony is that at least half of that is the product of the disease. I myself have turned to religious communal life as an antidote, as well as regular exercise, which can work wonders.
