Hi, the only person that can answer this question is a psychiatrist. Please arrange an appointment. You will need to have several sessions so that you can be evaluated properly and get the correct diagnosis. A psychiatrist works differently than a general practitioner and you won't be judged because of your behaviour. If you want to improve your quality of life you need to take the first step of booking an appointment.
Hi krys - There is a very specific set of criteria to determine whether you are bipolar 1, 11 or possibly cyclothymic, which is the least serious set of symptoms for a cycling mood disorder. Or perhaps, you may need some anger management. I certainly understand the feelings of anger, but we somehow need to be able to manage those feelings without doing something that could potentially be either life threatening or could cause way more problems than you will want to deal with! There are many people who do not have unmanageable mood swings, but the only way to find out if you fall in the range of having a disorder is to have a full Psychological Assessment with either a Psychologist or a Psychiatrist. Both are Drs., but the Psychiatrist is a medical Dr. that can also prescibe medications, while a Psychologist cannot. There is no need to feel shame about having a mood disorder. It is an actual medical disorder in the chemical or electrical circuitry in the brain. And, its also treatable. So, please do find out what the problem is so you can get to the solution before you do something that causes you or someone else harm. There's no reason to be afraid. It takes courage for us to deal with all of our medical problems, whether they be in the brain or the rest of the body... Good luck! Jillian :)
