and have been having bad chest palpitations and sometimes I even shake. This only happens at work while under extreme pressure and multi-tasking. I am so fearful that I will make a mistake and I get very stressed out. My pdoc prescribed clonozepam 1 mg, 2x a day. It helps me sleep but does nothing for me at work while under stressful situations. Is there anything that could help with these awful heart palpitations and shaking? Sometimes I am afraid that I'll have a stroke, I can feel my heart pounding so fast. It's awful and scary. Can anyone suggest anything to help me. Thank you.
Slow down and BREATHE!! You need to get control of yourself at work. Dont rely on a pill to help you-it becomes a crutch and will just make things WORSE if you keep taking them! When you feel yourself getting panicky, STOP, close your eyes (if you can)take a deep calming breath in through your nose and out through your mouth. As you breathe out, concentrate on relaxing your shoulders and then the rest of your body as you breathe, breathe slowly to a count of 5, 10 or 20, whatever it takes and tell yourself "I can do this. I am a competent adult and I can do this" Once you gain confidence in yourself, you will be fine. It takes time to learn a new job and no one expect you to be perfect right away. Relying on a pill to get you through the day will just lead to dependence and you wont be able to handle any pressure, even going out the door, without a stupid pill! Working under stress is a skill and just like any other skill, it takes time to master. Dont be so hard on yourself!!
