So im on microgestin fe 1/20 and i was told that less than 1 in 100 women get pregnant a year. Well i was telling someone thats why im on birth c was because i wanted to be protected abd not have children anytime soon. Well she then continued on about how birth c isnt effective because she was on birth c and condoms and spermacide abd she still got pregnant and that using just birth c alone wont work. I have never missed a pill and im not on antibiotics. As well that the 1 percent of women who do get pregnant typically forgot to take the pill or again they were on a medicine that counteracted the birth c. Should i be worried and use back up protection or was what she said just misinformation
If you take your pill at the same time every day, Its really only about a 0.3% chance of pregnancy. Your friend didn't do something right. She is misinformed. If you miss one pill your protection drops to 90% so in that case you should use a condom for the next 7 days. And of course if you're put on antibiotics. The purpose of birth control pills is to stop conception. If you take them correctly you don't ovulate, so you can't get pregnant. No where will you see that a manfacturer says it won't work use a condom. If you would need all that other stuff, why be on it? You would be surprised at some of the girls who do all kinds of things, I don't know where this belief comes from. It wasn't something we worried about when i was on the pill. The onlly things better then the pill is the implant or iud because you can't do anything to screw that up. It sounds like that is what your friend needs.
