I have a severe allergy to amoxicillin, but I was given a prescription for it for my dog. Is it safe for him to be on it? What precautions do I need to take? It is a pill.
I curious did a Vet actually see your dog and then decide to write your dog a prescription for Amoxicillin?
If the answer is yes then it's possible for you to give the dog the Amoxicillin.
You will however have to uses rubber gloves when touching & dispensing the Amoxicillin.
Because of your allergy to Amoxicillin it's best to be safe than sorry.
Lastly, I would recommend washing your hands before and after dispensing the antibiotic.
Best regards to you and your pet.
m1781; I have given amoxicillin to my dogs and cats and have never had any problems this is one of the most common antibiotics used by the vets. if anything allergy looks for itching severe, swelling of lips nose etc but I really don't think you will have any problems. hope your dog feels better very soon.
