... Alka Seltzer plus in the morning before surgery in the afternoon?
Aren't you supposed to not eat or drink anything that day? If your type of alkaseltzer plus has aspirin in it you probably shouldn't take it for a few days before the surgery.
Kanasroamer, It is true that you should not eat/drink anything NPO (by mouth) after midnight. A/S does contain Aspirin (blood thinner), but the amount of blood loss during cataract surgery is insignificant. I am more into ortho/pod, gen, ob/gyn, etc.. so this is only my opinion. Good luck!
