I am having my knees evaluated by a surgeon but in the meantime i am in pain. I have swelling and tenderness with sharp stabbing pain. I have been told by this doctor that I have arthiritis behind my knee cap. with the medication and over the counter medicine that I take, can I add regular Aleve without interaction? Also is this the best choice for temp relief
You should be ok taking these medications. They gave you gabapentin for this kind of pain? Gabapentin is usually best for nerve pain. This sounds like inflammation so I'm surprised they didnt give you a prescription NSAID to replace the Aleve like Celebrex or Mobic. I'm not sure gabapentin is going to help with this kind of pain unless you have nerve involvement causing numbness, tingling or electric "shock like" pain. If this doesnt work for you, you may need to ask about a different kind of medication.
