... vodka over a 24 hour period. Will I have withdrawals, I am hungover
I'm very sorry that you relapsed as I'm sure you must be feeling guilt on some level. 15 years is a huge accomplishment!!! But it can be considered a slip if you pick yourself up, get back into the program and start fresh. That happened with a good friend of ours, 15 years, celebrity guru in AA, condemned by many people, but also had support. He was going through a divorce, quit going to meetings and his heart was shattered so he chose to take the route he was more acquainted with, the instant numbness he could get with drugs and alcohol. He went into full blown relapse for a few months, realized his life was worse and got back in the program. You shouldn't feel shame or embarrassment, you're reaching out here, so do what you know to do. Say the serenity prayer all day long and ask a friend, sponsor, whomever you have that will guide you back to where you were prospering and work through what triggered you.
Remember, you are powerless over your addiction, turn it back over and rework those steps. A slip becomes a fall if you stay down, however if you get back up, wipe the dust off, it was just that, a slip. Best of luck to you!!! Sending serenity you're way!!!
