Having much joint, muscle pain after taking forteo for 1 month. Will these common side effects lessen in couple of months? Going to stay with it. inject @5-6pm & hard to sleep. Better taking in am? Thank you for your advice.
The manufacturer's website says that joint aches are a possible side effect and to contact your physician if that happens. I had the Prolia injection for my osteoporosis (a 6 month injection) that caused terrible skin inflammation and bone pain. It's now been a year and a half with the same side effects still with me. And there was nothing in the literature about it being a side effect. I notified the FDA. My own view now is that all the osteoporosis treatments are a huge risk for the little benefit that they give you. That was also the view of Consumer Reports about the whole class of meds like Fosamax whose side effects can last indefinitely even after stopping them. There is someone else on this website who may respond you who took the Forteo for the full 2 years and had no improvement.
