I just need to know this so I don't do anything stupid
If it is your first time taking birth control or new to a different brand then you it is ADVISED/RECOMMEND you use it for a month. In the meantime, use a back-up method. If not, like your second week, but you missed one. Then it is a MUST to wait a week, but recommended to wait till your next period, just to make sure and be extra precaution. Again in the meantime, use a back-up method. White pills are Non- active pills meaning they have no hormones in them. It has inert substances. All the blue pills have hormones in them so it is very important to take them on time.
You take one pill a day every day. Yes, you should take the white ones-they are in the pack for a reason. This gets you used to taking one pill a day and helps you to remember when to start your next pack. It is usually recommended that you use back up protection, like condoms, for the first cycle (or pack) but the manufacturer claims you are protected after seven consecutive days on the pill, if you start them on the first day of your period. It is safer to wait a whole pack however.
