I have had Helicobacter Pylori for around 6-9 months and upon my second visit to the Doctors/GP i was told it was Helicobacter Pylori. I was given Omeprazole, amoxicillin, and clarithromycin and have had weekly check ups. I am into my second week of the antibotics and whilst at first the antibiotics seemed to be working the pain and griping has returned. My doctor says that i may have to visit my hospital to the Gastro section for possibly an endoscopy if by the next check up the pain hasnt gone. I have never had this before and am extremely nervous about this. Has this happened to anyone else who can offer some advice...
They are talking about an endoscopy as you should other wise feel good within a week, they will be looking for duodenal or stomach ulcers. Endoscopies are nothing to worry about. I have had one while I was awake (sedation did not work so they asked if they could try with me awake and aware). It was uncomfortable but not remotely painful. The second one I had a large bleeding ulcer and as it was the same surgeon she doubled up on the Midazolam and added fentanyl to the mix. I was awake then they gave me the fentanyl and then I was awake with the surgeon showing my nice color pictures of the ulcers (7) and telling me what she did. Time elapsed time in my head; 3 seconds?
Believe me I'm a pretty nervous patient too.
Good luck, Steve.
