BK Virus most susceptible up to 5 years out. Lowering of immunosupression helps fight BK Virus. Symptoms are sub-clinical and cancer drug "vismodegib" causes all symptoms. I am on lowest dose of cyclosporine (main side affect - gout), azathioprine (increases susceptibility to basil and sqaumus cancers) and prednisone (over 2 decades destabilizes blood pressure also can cause polycythemia) and have an ileal conduit for over 50 years. Use Bactrim DS for elevated WBC. Never urinated through bladder or urethra - how can I relate to symptoms of burning urination? Klippel-Feil Syndrone, extrophy of bladder - ileal conduit age 3. Many revisions.

Because you have an excellent nephrologist. Just because you have a reduced chance doesn't mean it goes away. They simply don't test as often. Even with highly successful transplants that have lasted for decades caution and foresight is the road best traveled. Specifically because you cannot feel early warning signs is the number one reason to err on the side of caution. But it is best always to Ask Your Nephrologist... They are not God.. you have to Advocate for yourself. They will talk to you. Good luck and Good health.
Did you change nephrologist? Is your creatinine elevated... If you're asymptomatic or unable to feel any symptoms.. These are the only scenarios apart from being cautious that I can think of.Sorry I couldn't help more but. I will be thinking of you and if you want I'll say a prayer. My sisters had issues with their kidneys from diabetes.. I feel for you.
