It has always seemed to work fairly well until recently when I have had to add effexor and now abilify, I am wondering if anyone has quit taking it after so long and felt better.
After 12 years on Wellbutrin and the generic, has anyone else noticed a decline in effectiveness?

It is not unusual for our bodies to become use to an antidepressant and thus it becomes less effective. I have to change mine every 5 or so years because of this problem. I take an antidepressant very similar to Effexor called Pristiq and also Abilify and bupropion, the generic of Wellbutrin. I have had great success with this combination for many years now. As far as quite taking it, you may find the Effexor with Abilify is enough. You would just have to experiment to see. But I wouldn't slowly reduce the Wellbutrin until you have been on the Effexor for at least a month and are stable.
