I have been on Lexapro. For a year started with 10mg then doctor said bump it up to 20mg done it for a while but about every time I had an anxiety attack I would bump it up myself now I’m up to 60mg a day and I’m scared that it’s not working and i know now this many pills are dangerous what should I do?
"The recommended dose of Lexapro is 10 mg once daily. A fixed-dose trial of Lexapro demonstrated the effectiveness of both 10 mg and 20 mg of Lexapro, but failed to demonstrate a greater benefit of 20 mg over 10 mg [see Clinical Studies (14.1)]. If the dose is increased to 20 mg, this should occur after a minimum of one week."
You're way above the maximum dosage for Lexapro and it's not effective. You should never "adjust" your dosage without your doctor's knowledge and consent.
You need to consult with your doctor NOW regarding how to wean off or down off the Lexapro and either switch to another medication or use an add-on like Abilify or Rexulti once you're back down to the recommended 10mg dose of Lexapro.
Please call for an appointment!
Best regards and good luck. Wildcat
