I have serious painful peripheral neuropathy for 6 years now. It's been getting worse. Non-diabetic but alcohol was to blame. I take Lyrica,Gabebetin both 300mg each 4-6 times a day and night(can't sleep because of the severe pain). Can't take a narcotic pain medicine cause of my liver. No insurance and no job ,can't afford to go to a neuroligist to see if there is anything that can be done. If anyone is in the same boat and has found any other solution, let me know. Thank you,Treeves
I've been in your financial situation in the past. I have psych and pain issues. Are you taking the Gabapentin as prescribed? Sounds like you are taking too much of each. Nevertheless, there are resources you can hook up with in your community. There should be clinics that operate on a sliding scale as far as payment for medical treatment. If you cannot work due to medical problems, you may qualify for disability and Medicaid. You can fill out the forms at socialsecurity.gov.
That will get the ball rolling as far as help with medical care and you may also be able to file for other services as well.. When I couldn't work and had health problems, that's what I did and I got help.. You can too.
Good luck and wishing you well as you make your way through the journey.
I know how expensive Lyrica is so if you can provide the maker of it & your gabapentin, maybe I can get you some help thru the patients assitance programs for each drug... Mary
Treeves, I think you could take Tramadol and not bother you liver.
My Dr. put me on Metonx yesterday for idiopathic peripheral neuropathy. If it works, I will let you know. I am on Gabapentin and Tramadol also.
Hang in there brother. I will pray for you.
Treeves, I don't know if it will help you until you can get some financial support in place, but there is a fairly inexpensive product called "Biofreeze" that sure helps. me. There is also a generic for it now, but personally think brand is best. Tube is better than spray. Cools burning and relaxes muscles. OTC. For what it's worth. . .
