seriously... when it is so apparent that you need a stimulant and have been suffering from add since childhood! Sometimes I feel like people who are in need of help fall victim to the others that abuse the stimulates and it adversely affects the honest adults who are needing help to find there way in a world that is in constant chaos and prohibits you from having a productive and fulfilling life?
I had to see my primary care doctor and have her refer me to a psychologist. I had symptoms as a child but was a good student and very quiet so I was never medicated. I have ADD, so I didn't have the behavioral issues. I just couldn't concentrate and I was very good at zoning out. I was diagnosed at 21 and started treatment. Have you tried talking to your primary care doctor about this? Mine was very helpful. I thought she would just think I wanted the medication, but she didn't. I can definitely tell it helps. People who need the medication act differently on it that people who don't need it. I'm not super focused on the medication, but it makes me able to sit still and concentrate on my job. It doesn't make me want to stay up all night or be hyper focused. But there are some doctors out there that understand. Try your primary care doctor, and look for a psychologist not a psychiatrist. My psychologist doesnt write my medications. My primary doctor does. She just receives reports from the psychologist.
