... morphine pump.? any positive or negative reactions. Can,t stand or sit without 10 level pain
Sorry no one answered your question. Are you still here? I don't know much about the Morphine pump, can you explain how it works? Have you gone on it by now? I would think it's a good idea if 3 of the 100 mcg patches are not working. Are you a cancer patient, I have a feeling you are. I know that with cancer it is often necessary to use Fentanyl patches as well as something else. I had a cousin in the hospital with cancer and he had the patches on and he had a Dilaudid IV tube hooked up at the same time. He could self administer some Dilaudid every 6 minutes. I believe it worked well. So if that's your situation I think you should use the pump and the patches. Use everything they will give you. I hope we hear from you again.
My PC doctor wanted to put a pain pump in me but the side effects were to dangerous in my opinion. Some side effects are itching, vomiting, dizziness and those are the mild. Death is the worst one. Get all the facts from a doctor that knows about them and puts them in people. Good Luck and God Bless.
Hi Willard. I just found the groups on drugs.com so I hope I'm not too late with an answer. I had the Medtronic Intrathecal pump for almost 6 years. I have Arach and a host of other chronic pain conditions. I tried every med they could use in it and at every different dose, but we never got the relief of pain desired. I had it removed and started with different meds at my pain clinic. The week after it was removed, I heard from another patient at the clinic that there had been some troubling reports about the pump. I read an article about it, and the jist of it was:
"A dangerous complication, once thought extremely rare, has now turned up in scores of patients. An inflamed mass of tissue develops at the tip of the tube where the drug enters the spine. These "granulomas" can grow to the size of a golf ball, compressing the spinal cord and causing paralysis -- either suddenly or slowly, and often irreversibly."
Thankfully I didn't have anything like that, but I did have some crazy effects. I've always been tall and skinny. After the pump was placed, I went from 126lbs to 199lbs during the 6yrs I had it. Since I still ate the same as I always had, I figured that maybe since I was getting into my forties I had lost my great metabolism. After the pump was removed, I lost 26lbs in 5 weeks. In the next six months the rest of it came off and I have stayed the same weight as I have always been. I have heaqrd a few people say the same happened to them, but none of my doctors had ever heard of it. I would like to know if you did get the pump and how it has worked for you. I hope you are well. Nan
I have adhesive arachnoiditis in the last class. 10 pain all the time. Both hips replaced. Left one recalled and partially revised. Both knees replaced. Lumbar was totally decompressed and fused and I have AA. Nothing works. I'm on 8mg dilodid hate spellck. Was on 40 mg OxyContin . I don't have a life.
