I have been taking Vyvanse for about 3-4 years and it has worked pretty good. Lately I have noticed that it does not work as well I feel like it does nothing. I am currently taking 60 mgs. I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was 5 and I am now 18 and weigh 98 pounds. Anyways, I want to try something else, I have adderall XR that is 25mg which is equivalent to 60mgs of vyvanse. I also have Intuniv, Focalin XR, Ritalin LA, D- Amphetamine. I want to try something different for school tomorrow. Would it be harmful from switching from vyvanse to any of the other medications I listed? Which one would you suggest me to take.
Well they are all CNS stimulants so the mechanism is the same with all of them. My question is, why do you have so many at the same time? A doctor has an ethical duty to discontinue one prescription before prescribing one in the same class. Unless he/she has a reason for allowing you to have many stimulants at the same time, I'd question the therapeutic methods. Talk to your doctor before you switch. They will guide you as far as equivalent dosing.
