... the suboxone route? I have tried everything and i always fail. I even failed on suboxone cuz i could not stick to the dosage. I kept upping it
Unfortunately addiction usually has to run a course before most can really get into recovery. I have found that once you have stopped getting a high off the opiates and you are taking huge amounts then you are probably ready. It's a gut feeling, you just get so tired of taking pills all day long with no result other then you're more depressed and pissed off caused you can't feel good.
If you are still able to get a euphoric buzz then it is almost impossible to get into recovery. This is why you hear of heroin addicts failing rehab (which only has a 7% success rate) 10-15 times before they get into recovery or die. Pharmaceutical drugs such as morphine, fentanyl, hydromorphone ect are stronger than most stepped on street heroin and these addicts have an even harder time recovering due to the fact that these drugs are available virtually 24/7.
If buprenorphine isn't working then you could try methadone. Normally for methadone to be successful you need to be a chronic heavy abuser for a very minimum of 5 years. There are rare exceptions but that is the rule a lot of addiction doctors follow along with my own. You must have failed rehab/detox at least twice also.
So you just might not be ready to get into recovery or you just haven't found what works for you. All that I can tell you is to not give up. Do you ever see senior citizen addicts?? Not very often and that's because they are dead or in recovery. Although in the last 20 years there have been more and more of our senior's getting addicted??? Hang in there and keep trying and let the suboxone work if you try it again as you won't get high off it due to the fact it has a ceiling effect to it... Dave
U just responded to my question that I left a little while ago which is real similar to ur question. I unfortunately gave myself up n tried detox but i can't stand being "locked up" in any sort of way so I left n dealt with it at home. I'm fairly clean now Lord knows withdrawals f'ing suck! But if u just take a weekend an do it... give someone ur phone n kinda isolate urself... after about 4days u'll notice a big difference, u should start thinking clearer and feeling better. As for the sub's I was on them for about 8 months but I was always tired n kinda rude to people. After that I decided I don't think being prescribed them is a good idea. I know at detox they start u on half or 4mgs (the second day of wd's) and increase it by 4mgs the next 2 days then decrease it by the same the next 3. As much as I hated detox this sounds like a very good idea cz then u won't be on the subs for long and they'll help with being sick. I guess if u can't get any... u can't still do it for sure it's just going to suck but u can do it. U know what triggers u and u know what ull do to get more so if u can keep urself from doing that for a few days knowing that ur going to feel like crap then u should be good. Take it hour by hour there's no other way. Good luck to u!
