... scared, married with 2 kids and have no idea what to expect, I start a 2 week detox program with suboxone tomorrow... thoughts, advice, comments? I'm?
Hi Klare, I was successfully treated with suboxone on an outpatient basis. It is a great medication if properly used, and that also means doing the counseling that is supposed to be required. Make sure you do NOT take any benzos, muscle relaxers or drink alcohol while you are in the 24 hour wait/withdrawal period, or while you are on suboxone. Those types of substances can slow breathing, and this risk increases much more while you are on suboxone.Sometimes it is medically necessary for a person to be on both, but only take them if they are prescribed by your sub doctor, or the sub doctor knows. When people are in a rehab, they may be given meds I said not to take, but they are being monitored by the proper medical personnel. It does tend to cause constipation, drink lots and lots of water, eat fruit, and walk or exercise to avoid or ease this symptom. And do the counseling, it will help so much. Wow April 12th that is the day I quit opiates with suboxone. I am buying the subs and doing it myself because I cannot leave home to go in-patient. You should be fine. I am in day 4 now and I'm doing fine. I plan on going 2 more days than stopping the subs. 6 days should be ok. I was taking 3 8/2 mg three times a day did that 3 days now 2 pills twice a day and on last day 1 pull. The subs build up in your system and leave rather slowly so if you do detox, which you will, detox is just drugs leaving your body, but this way it won't be bad. I don't know what you were on or for how long, but that info would help. Hang in there you'll be fine.
