I have been taking Adderall for 4 months. I started at 20mg once a day, then 30mg, then 45mg, then 60mg. (Each dose was used for 1 month before bumping to a higher dose) It works for the first few days I take it, then it does not have any effect anymore. If I wait at least a week between doses, it works, but not as well as when I first started taking it. My doctor says my brain is adapting to the medication quickly. Since 60mg is the max dosage, my doctor is wanting me to try Concerta, but I have heard really bad things about it and the prescription is expensive. I'm worried that since the Adderall isn't working well, the Concerta won't either and I'll waste money. My question is, are there other ADD/ADHD medications? Has anyone had a similar experience with Adderall not working? I feel very ostracized because it seems like I'm the only one who has this issue. I just want to find something that works without going broke just trying a bunch of different medications. Thanks in advanced for any help or advice.
