... Adderal is cleaner but they both cause the same reaction. I feel like I am setting my son up for addiction.
First of Adderall is for ADD or ADHD and is given to people with attention problems. Adderall is made in a sterile environment at pharmaceutical companies licensed to do just that. Adderall is a good medication when used properly and under a physicians care. And it does not cause your face to get Meth acne or cause your teeth to turn yellow, cause your gums to become diseased allowing your teeth, rotten though they are, fall out.
There is not even a tiny resemblance to methamphetamines except the amphetamines part of the word. I am sorry if I come across somewhat disturbed, but apparently you have either not seen the news or heard about the ingredients or how the meth is made... with drano and the like
OMG, if your child has an attention deficit problem, let the professionals handle his care.
For future reference, try looking up methamphetamines online, Google it and read all about it. Where have you been?
Sorry forgetting upset,

Another thing you have to understand is how the ADHD brain works. These kids (and adults) brains are unable to filter out unnecessary information. Things like the feel of the air and their clothes against their skin, all the little noises going on around them, smells in the air, the kinds of things non-ADHD people's brains filter out as unnecessary information. The ADHD brain gets very overwhelmed trying to process all this information and all of their thoughts about this information and then goes into meltdown. Stimulants dont work in these kids and adults the way they do non-ADHD people. Stimulants, in the ADHD brain, help turn on the portion of their brain responsible for filtering out unnecessary information and this allows them to focus on what is important. Studies have shown the UNTREATED ADHD kids are MORE LIKELY to turn to drugs and alcohol as they get older because their brains are trying to self medicate.
If you can make a statement like this then you dont understand ADHD/ADD at all. You need to research and learn about it. My kids, one was slightly ADD and the other ADHD, pretty significantly. I learned all I could about ADD/ADHD because no one likes to put their children on medications, especially ones we know to be controlled meds but I can say, for my kids, it was the BEST thing I could have done for them. They have a cousin who is very like my youngest who had ADHD. I'm sure this boy was ADHD. His mother chose not to medicate him. He struggled all through school and wound up dropping out at age 16, he is an adult now and sits around all day smoking cigarettes and pot, he is tatted and pierced (thats part of lack of impulse control) and cant keep a job. Since he is tatted and pierced, he doesnt even have military as an option-they wont take him. My kids dont smoke, dont do drugs and finished school. I have no doubt that my youngest would NEVER have made it through school without his medications. There is a website for children and adults with ADHD called CHADD. Google and see if you can find it because their is a lot of good info on their so that you can learn how ADD and ADHD affects your childs brain and learn all you can then decide if you want to medicate your child. I'm sure glad that I did! I wish now that I hadnt waited so long to put them on meds!
You also need to think of social ramifications of not medicating your kids. Being ADHD and unmedicated can really set these kids up for failure. Their behaviors are difficult to manage. They have difficulty controlling impulses so they have difficulty waiting in lines and waiting for their turn. This is a MAJOR offense to other kids! Little boys who are ADHD tend to be a little more agressive along with poor impulse control so they tend to get into more fisticuffs (fights) than other little boys. All this can set the child up to be unliked by his peers and adults alike. This causes the child an great deal of emotional pain and insecurity. These kids are not stupid, in fact, they are usually brilliant, especially at "thinking outside the box". They KNOW when others do not like them. I went through every heartache with my son watching other kids and other parents shun him for his behaviors before he was medicated.
I dreaded each time he went on a fieldtrip at school or if he went to a party at another childs house. He was very out of control and it wasnt because he wasnt disciplined! We tried everything-behavior modification, diet control, even spankings, but soon I realized this was a behavior he couldnt control! Once we medicated, our family dynamics were so much better. We could go places without having to constantly check our sons impulse control, he and his brother fought less, people didnt mind us coming over so much because now our kids were better behaved and we werent harping at them constantly. Medicine made such a huge difference. My son even became proud of himself! One month after starting meds he was student of the month! He became proud that he was able to behave better and that people began to like him! His relationships with his peers was much better as a result. You cant put a price on that!
I had a son with true ADHD and i gave him Adderall and I don't feel one bit guilty about it at all. His grades were horrible and he couldn't sit still and learn. He was handicapped. The medicine helped him make straight A's and after he graduated he didn't need it anymore and he is getting ready to go into the Marines and is a fine young gentlemen. I won't repeat what the other's have allready posted. But I am glad I helped my son when he needed it. And he is glad I helped him out at that time too. Ruth
well they are very close when it comes to chemical structure and once methamphetamine is metabolized and bio-transformed it will break down to other molecules... like amphetamine. methamphetamine has methyl, chemically, methyl is connected to the nitrogen group of the amphetamine molecule making it methamphetamine. amphetamine does not have a methyl group in its structure, duh :p,, methyl gives it better fat solubility which helps penetrate the brain easier..which makes it hit faster and stronger (more potent)
Methamphetamine is more looked down on because of the media, amphetamine not so much, even though amphetamine related stimulant drugs..including methylphenidate (Ritalin), amphetamine (Adderall, Dexedrine), & methamphetamine (Desoxyn) are commonly prescribed to children as young as 4-5. All three of these can lead to bad habits and can become a problem for some people who try them. the media and marketing people try to make them out to be 2 completely diff drugs. but really not so much. i think adderall is actually a horrible drug..( but i love/hate it) since i need it to function).
Google the chemical comp of adderal then of meth. There is no difference . Vyvance is way worse. Trust me I've done them all. Your kids jus smart and bored... Find a natural way to help him focus or use none narcotic meds. U are right. If he takes pills as a child he will probably sale them as an adult, being honest. I hope no one ever makes their parents go thru what I did to my mom ... So yes take him off, concerta would b ur best bet. Also google natural remedies : prayer, meditation, music , sports .. Something to keep him busy .. The kid tries too hard to focus bc too much surrounds him but if placed in the right atmosphere he wouldn't need a pill
Imarian: ur dumb too, u needa look up amphetamine effect on teeth or just ask ur dentist, if u have teeth bc apparently u have no idea what ur talking about, medicating a child for being bored is ridiculous and will lead them to worse things in life feel free to email ur response bc I know if u listen to some1 who tells u to giv ur baby drugs-stimulants- unless ur child is totally ubcontrollable, then you must have been smoking in the same place that person asked u where u had been :)
the last two comments are Soo right ... hello people you are giving you kids pill form meth.. it don't matter if its made in a clean environment its still meth... give your kids more attention.. I have tried one of these meds to see what a kid would feel like .. gross feels just like you smoked meth .. and I have all symptoms of add / adhd so beleave me it makes everyone feel the same!!! wake up people this is bad for your kids !!!
Jag_luva04. Your adolescent e-mailing vocabulary suggests that you are a texting teenager. How precocious you are that you can diagnose a physiologic disorder without performing a history on the individual, or subjecting him or her to some appropriate testing and observation. Comments such as yours are uninformed and naïve, and tend to do harm to those who take them seriously. ashleyje- your imprudent agreement with luva also flows from ignorance of the subject in general. Your apparent misunderstanding of ADD, and ADHD is borne out by your surprise that you, who probably do not have the condition, felt agitated when you illicitly consumed a psychostimulant. That is the very reaction one would expect were the patient NOT to have ADD and took such meds.
