I weaned off Ritalin at 19 and haven't been medicated since. I was taking 20mg 5x a day. I'm now 36 and have seen my daytime sleepiness increase in the last couple years. Weight problems and stress I know play a huge part in it. Here's the question. As much as I love not being medicated because I was bombarded with tests and pills growing up, I think I'm willing to try this. Someone gave me a 30 time released a few weeks ago and it had me up for a day. Is it possible to find a dose that'll taper off at night or is it similar to Ritalin where it builds up in your system and a second drug is necessary? My fear is that I'll have to be prescribed a drug to counter it so I can sleep at night. That was the case my entire childhood growing up, with Ritalin.
I am 40yrs. I needed to be medicated by 6th grade at the latest but my Mother didn't want me on anything. I self medicated.
I came across adderall and started taking at 36 yrs.
From my experience, if I take only 20 MG early, it wears off by bedtime.
but I also would take atavan 3MG because I was already taking that before.
It's not an easy decision, so I would say to trust your gut.
I stopped taking adderall almost 3 months ago and it's been a long and painful withdrawal. I'll be fine one minute and the next my brain is screaming for it. But I also don't want to be on pills my whole life. Adderall also will thin out your hair over time a lot.
