I've been on celexa 40mg for 5 weeks. It has helped alot with my anxiety, but my depression seems to still be hanging on. What else could I ask my doctor for to help more? Or should I give more time? Thanks
Hi, chellerae! Definitely ~ always ~ consult with your doctor about your progress or lack thereof. In your case, he/she may advise waiting just a bit longer as it takes about 6-8 weeks to build up effective therapeutic levels of the drug in your bloodstream. You might also ask about possibly adding a low dose of Abilify or a similar antipsychotic which work on their own and also booster the effectiveness of the antidepressants.
Meanwhile, you know the drill. Eat a healthy diet. Get some exercise, Re-invent a hobby or sport you enjoy. Reduce your caffeine and alcohol intake, Find a support group or person or ask for a referral to a therapist.
Best wishes to you, Wildcat
