I was just diagnosed with genital herpes a few days ago and I've been in shock since then. I didnt really get to ask many questions since I was told over the phone so Ive been reading everything I can find to learn more and get answers. I hadnt had any intimacy in over 2yrs & hadnt seen any symptoms but the nurse told me the virus can lay dormant for many years. I guess intimacy is out for me now all together after this.
No intimacy is not out for you at all, you can take Acyclovir one a day to supers the virus that will help to keep it from spreading to your partner and use a condom and by all means before you get that far in a relation ship tell them this, which can be hard to do but the right thing, be honest and up front about it. now stress can bring it out on you, it has stages no intimacy for three weeks or if virus is active, make sure its healed and sheaded, it does lay dormant and life long, out breaks may come a lot at first then you'll go a long time without one, keep Acyclovir on hand at all times, you will learn when your going to break out, you are not alone, hope this helps, take care, SHEsevEN4
