Does this mean I may have herpes?
Herpes is generally spread only when a "sore" is starting, at it's peak, or drying up. Some studies say that it can be spread at other times when there is no outbreak. Also, Acyclovir can be prescribed for fever blisters (a form of Herpes) and also for the shingles (another for of Herpes). Do not panic at this time. Depending on how long it has been that you were sexually active with your ex, you would have already had the symptoms I would guess. You can go to your doctor to request a blood test to see if you have the virus laying dormant in your body. However, in women it generally shows up in anywhere from 2 weeks to 6 months. You would know if you had it if you had an outbreak. They are awefully painful. The initial can last for up to 10 days. If you start to feel a tingling in an area or develope an open sore to you private area, contact your doctor immediately. I hope this helps.
