I am a patient that has been off and on of Actiq for 3 brain tumors. Two were successfully removed my current one is on the brain stem and inoperable. My insurance Co.use to cover it Actiq 8oo mcg.I moved 4 hrs away in the same state,my insurance booted me saying I was out of the area... (really)The new insurance covers it if pre authorized... My tumor cant be biopsied due to where it is,Ive been told its to dangerous. My Dr. had to answer "not known" to "Does your patient have cancer"? So now its been denied even though I have a brain tumor. Thank you for any information that could help me .
You need to get your records from the other times, so they can see this is a continuation of things that are biopsied. The dr can put you on other forms of the same med. They might not pay it unless you have a diagnosis of pain since they don't want to believe cancer. Then you go to change.org and start a petition. You name the insurance company and what they are doing, and tell your story and get lots of signatures and take it to the insurance.
