Inhaled steroids, while effective at preventing asthma, can lead to oral thrush, a yeast infection of the mouth, tongue, and throat.
To prevent thrush you should rinse out your mouth and gargle with water after using an inhaler, and use a spacer. If thrush is persistent you may need to take antifungal medication.

Probiotics containing acidophilus could be useful. Acidophilus will not destroy the fungus, but will help to restore the normal bacterial flora in your mouth. Follow the directions on the label.
