depression. is there anything i should do or something that i can ask my doctor to give to me help with the pain especially aroun my knees? alot of joint pain. what is the best way to get back into exercising? i was very active until the depression worsened. i initially became depressed in 2004 but it was very mild until 2010 when it worsened i finally sought help in march 2011
I don't remember what meds you might be taking, but you might consider Cymbalta as it is an antidepressant that also helps with some kinds of pain. Are you certain that the achiness and joint pain is actually related to the depression? You might have other issues going on that need to be addressed by the doc such as arthritis or fibromyalgia. I take Celebrex for my arthritis with good success. Again, don't remember your particulars, but just a couple thoughts to ask the doc about.
As Laurie said, Cymbalta would help. It has been approved by FDA for depression AND pain. Also another med that would be helpful and very safe is Volteran Gel 1%. You just rub it in your joints and it goes down to the muscles and tendons and such and eases the pain. I love the stuff.
TIP: If you do get a prescription for Volteran Gel, try to get it for 1000gms. It is cheaper for 10 tubes at once than 1 at a time.

hi i have so many of your same problems. Cymbalta did not help me and i was up to 120mgs. a day.I know though that it helps a lot of people. it might help your depression also as it was first brought out for that. I exercise in my chair doing isometric exercises and it has really helped tighten my muscles. i also lay in bed to work on my stomach. and with all the things i do around the house i figure thats enough. hope i have helped out
thanks. i just started 75mg of effexor 2 days ao which is the only med im taking and ambien for sleep which i really don't take i have a doc appt with my medical doctor on thursday to double check about the pain but it has to be depression b/c i was fine before and hopefully it isn't arthritis cuz im only 27
Hi there, try not to go on cymbalta. Its the first med most psychiatrists will put you on, they say it is multi functional but when it comes time to stop it is hell on wheels to get off. My friend equinox14 says it was worse than the actual depression. I got severe pain in my knees when i tried to go cold turkey off serepax and i found panadeine forte by prescription helped alot it can make you a bit constipated though. Once you clear your joint pain up hopefully your depression might improve. Try soughting your pain aspect out first before you go on anti depressants. The withdrawal effects from depression medication is awful. Hope you find the help that suits you. All the best.
march 2011 i started wellbutrin for depression then added sertraline in august and i had a seizure in september then i discontinued wellbutin and 3 days ago i stoppped sertraline and started the effexor but my joint pain my hands arms knees ankles and muscle pain worsened with depression worsened so i just need help and thanks for all the support
