I am 18 and about to start accutane, I know you can't drink alcohol while on it and was wondering if chewing tobacco or smokeless tobacco could have an effect on the course of the medication?
I am also 18 years old, and was recently on accutane for about 7 months. I chewed tobacco before starting the treatment for my acne, but found accutane to be a great reason to quit chewing. About 5 months in, I caved in and chewed one day, and the next day, the results actually did show. The outer skin on my finger tips began to get rubbery and became loose and unattached to my skin. This was not painful at all, but It was a terrible feeling for a few days. I went in to the dermatologist the next day, and they said they did not know any accutane/tobacco reactions. Maybe it was just a coincidence, but my results were not good when mixing the two. I would not recommend it.
