I want to have a drink on occasion. Will campral stop the binge following a cocktail? I have been taking the drug for a week. What can I expect after a drink?
Campral will do absolutely nothing to:
Prevent you drinking
Stop you from getting drunk
It is an aid for SOBER people to stay away from alcohol by reducing cravings. I don't know why you are wasting money on a medication when you have no intention of following the product information or giving up drinking.
Hi! It's Campralkitty, I'm not sure if I am a saint or sinner for revealing this - I just want you to know MY truth. Most folks don't really want to share this kind of thing - I think most people agree you should JUST stop drinking. I JUST would like to share... I've been on Campral for 3 weeks. I was worried about attending social events serving cocktails. I WANT TO be ABLE to have one or two drinks and STOP. 'STOPPING' is certainly my problem. I have been drinking for over 30 years. I've been in rehab. 3 times, the last time I went through detox and stayed sober on my own - for a few months. (The rooms are not for me - although they DO help if you WANT to QUIT). Lately I have begun to crave having a drink. Those Summer 'triggers' are all around. Long story - short - I REALLY DIDN'T want to drink but I 'went out' to a function. Was very AFRAID to drink - but did anyway. I had made up my mind to Stop @ two drinks.
Of course my husband was there to 'babysit' - God love him! I believe I could have gone for another one... I came home - TOOK my medicines before bed and all was fine. (Felt a little depressed, (MAYBE becauseI felt like I let myself and family down... ) I Woke up the next morning - didn't want to grab a beer or pour a glass of wine @ 6:00am! WHEW! Took 'my Campral' (take Campral 2 tabs - 3 times a day) went out Friday for dinner had a small glass of rose' wine (just one) came home watched the TV took my medication - went to bed. No cravings this morning. I am not trying to say this is why the drug was manufactured, however it works for me - so far... I, myself, enjoy drinking - but I realise it's habbit forming. Taking Campril is one of the best things I could have ever tried to help myself. Maybe it will help save your life. :)
I do not work for the drug manufacturer.
If you're told you can NEVER have another soft drink again in your life, you'll think about it and want it even more. I don't know how to turn down social invitations now that I was started on Campral and have finally addressed that I have an alcohol problem. Loneliness has driven right into the arms of vodka.
