Everything I've read says you need to detox for a few days before starting Campral? I don't understand, if I was able to abstain for days at a time I wouldn't need Campeal.
Campral is not the drug for you. It is designed to help you once you are abstinent. It has no reaction to or with alcohol. The only thing I noticed was that it induced a mild state of hypomania.
I did manage to quit in three weeks (having been a daily drinker for about 28 years; without a single day off). Strange rather than hard, for the next 6 months I'd plan to go to the bottleshop and find myself in the supermarket and vice versa; I'd try to grocery shopping and find myself in the bottleshop wondering what the hell I was doing there. More than 3 years later I wouldn't mind an occasional beer but I'm too scared it will be too easy to relapse.
