... stopped, found out I have PCOS. Went to fertility Dr and got pregnant with my son in 2011. After his birth my cycle got worse, meaning it would not stop for more than a couple days at a time and omg was it heavy. Well Dr put me on provera for 14 days. My cycle speed for about 7 days then came back worse than ever. I'm having to go to bathroom every hr. Dr says this is normal but I don't know how much more I can take. Someone please help. Is this really normal?
It may not be dangerous or harmful but it is not normal. I would try and get a second opinion. No one should have to deal with bleeding all the time. Are you going to have any more kids? That is a big deciding factor in what your next step is. I was having two periods a month for a while. Not much fun.
Have you had your thyroid checked? Blood work? Possible iron deficiency? Is birth control an option? Laparoscopy, hysteroscopy and D&C? These are some things I have done. Also, I read on line a suggestion to try taking a B complex vitamin so I tried it and have had fairly normal periods since. Also I have endometriosis which has been helped by laproscopy.
GL and hope you find some answers soon.
Please go to an endocrinologist if that is not the kind of doctor you have seen already. If the one you speak of is an endo, seek another one out or get some recommendations from your family doctor or gyno. You should have your thyroid checked out thoroughly because that can also affect your menstrual cycles a lot. I thought my troubles were attributed only to PCOS, but now I found out 4 weeks ago that I have the beginnings of hypothyroidism, which I found affects a lot of things including our cycles. Also, another tip is to go on low dose birth control. Since you had your tubes tied and aren't going to have another child, it helps a lot to regulate and lighten your period. I used to have the same issue and even had an accident at work--- I worked somewhere that measured your time away from your desk. I would even wake up to stained sheets, etc. no matter what I tried using. The pills work wonders and I have been on them 12 years. No more accidents or changing fem products 6-8 times a day!
