my son is autism, recently just developed SIB but hitting his arm and legs frequently. His doctor prescribed abilify and begin with 2.5mg before bed and after 7 days increase to 5mg before bed once a day. I read many side effects on this medication. i am very fear about giving any medication to my son. However, i feel very sad that i cannot not help him for his hitting bx and his hitting leaves many marks on his arms and legs. He is not aggressive and never attack others, his attention was not too bad. His only problem at this moment is the self-hitting behavior, however this behavior just happened last two months and never happen in his first 8 years of his life. Should i give him the abilify? what is your opinion? Love to hear more opinions. thanks. Mother of H
