From what I have read of the user experiences, people either love or hate taking this medication and I am wondering if the difference is whether you have bipolar 1 or 2? Does anyone with bipolar 2 absolutely loath/love this medication? I am 24 years old and have just been diagnosed with bipolar 2 and given a scrip for 10mg aripiprazole. Any personal experience would be greatly appreciated. I am really nervous :/
I have taken Abilify for numerous years with great success though I know those who could not tolerate it. 10mgs is a high starting dose. As far as the difference between bipolar 1 or 2 you have an interesting theory, but I think you will find it is more an individual difference rather than bipolar 1 or 2. I would be cautious by asking your doctor if you could start at a lower dose and work up if tolerated and necessary.
I agree with Laurie, it is more of an individual difference than a bipolar 1 & 2. Some people can't tolerate Abilify, but most can, and it is a very good med. Its usually used with another antidepressant to "boost" it. I have used it for about a year and it has helped me considerably.
