Hi JWH. I researched numerous websites and none indicated this was a time released medication. Having said that, every site clearly states that you should NOT adjust your dose without speaking with your doctor. I'm curious why you want to cut your dose in half? If you feel like the 5 mg you're taking is too much, perhaps you could make just a quick call to your doctor and leave a message that you feel like you need to lower your dose to 2 1/2 mg. I noticed that they do make smaller dosages in pill form including 2.5 mg. I hope this information helps and wish you the best of luck.
