My daughter found that if she cut out red food coloring from my grandsons diet his behavior was much improved. Also she didn't let him have much sugar. I applaud you for not wanted to drug your child into submission. He's old enough to talk to him. Ask him why he can't behave in class. Tell him how important it is that he does. I know that I was bored in grade school because I wasn't challenged. I behaved because I knew I'd pay for it, if I didn't. When I was in school you sat in a corner if you misbehaved. You also got punished when you got home. I'm not saying that's the way, just telling you like it was. When I went to kindergarten I was reading at a third grade level. (only child with allot of mom attention). It led to boredom.
