She is eighty and some of my family members do not want her on this medication. My grandmother can't keep anything down not even water and is running a fierce fever when it comes to her pain pills some family members don't even want her own that. This is very stressful . Any information are stories will help, please.
I cannot think of anything more cruel than to withhold pain medication from an 80 y/o lady who has cancer!!! What do they think withholding her pain meds is going to do?! If she has been on them a while, she is going to be dependent on them and taking them away will make her sicker. She NEEDS the pain medication! Dont you let them take that away from her because that is downright uncivilized! I'm sorry if that sounds harsh but I cant stand it when someone is hurting and someone else who has never had severe pain thinks they should be without pain medications! You need to get hospice involved right away so that they can educate your family members. If she is 80 and has cancer and is this sick, she should qualify for hospice care. Hospice is wonderful and they will help your whole family and most importantly, your grandmother. Ask the Drs about calling in hospice.
