... Psychiatrist's direction was "Take one tab every six hours as needed." Very rarely did I take every six hours. Psychiatrist retired. Primary Physician continued prescription. Experiencing some difficulty in mental recall and tinnitus (maybe due to age, meds, withdrawal or all). I wish to discontinue Clorazepate. Upon research, I question the validity for Clorazepate prescription. May I reduce dosage to 3.75 mg per day without adverse impact in attempt to discontinue med?
Do you believe you no longer need its help? I think you would be reducing it too fast that way. Benzos have to be weaned slowly, maybe a quarter of the dose, in then stay on that for at least 10 days then go to half the dose. You may find that is even too fast. Talking to your dr about it is the best way to do it.
