I've been on birth control for 7 months.Starting on my 8th month I had unprotected sex on the 3rd blue pill.Am I safe or not? Please help. Thank you.
Annie, as long as you havent missed any pills, you are protected against pregnancy after the first cycle. The reason for using condoms past the first pack of pills is to protect against STDs not pregnancy. Your pill is a contraceptive-that means birth control. Why would you take a pill for contraception and still need another form of birth control? You need condoms to protect against STDs and if you miss a pill, you need them as back up for a week but other than that, if you are in a commited relationship with a monogamous partner, you dont need to use condoms even during the inactive pills because the pill prevents ovulation-no egg=no baby.
From what I remember about Birth Cotrol Pills when I used to take them and I am pretty sure that they still basically work the same way. You should use some form of protection for the first month that you are on the pill, after that first month, you are protected from pregnancy as long as you take your pill around the same time every day. So from the information that you gave , you are safe.
Take care and good luck!
