I'm finding that after 48 hrs they are not helping me yet there is still medication still in the patch. Should I ask my Dr if I can change them to every 48 hrs? I'm in terrible pain after 48 hrs, why is this if there is still medication in there?
It depends on a number of factors that are almost all dealt with in the product information. A responsible doctor will ask for a three day, three collections of blood to test fentanyl plasma levels via gas chromatography. In theory it should have a nice curve when the results are plotted. Unless you are very confident of what you are doing this test is hard to change / manipulate results on. Unusual levels will result in a three day retest which you will want to match the first test closely. When they are measuring nano grams per litre it is easy to make a mistake.
Just be honest and they may increase your dose without question
