my child recently was found with a fractured skull from birth and the doctor has him on 3ML of tylenol every 4 hrs all day everyday... and I was pretty sure that that much of tylenol could harm a liver... im just asking to be on the safe side.
If you are giving your child the medicine as prescribed and for the length of time directed... there shouldn't be any problem at all. You didn't mention why tylenol was prescribed. Is it for pain or fever??? I am sure the doctor didn't prescribe this indefinitely though... Don't give it more than prescribed or no more than 5 times in any 24 hour period. Dosage for tylenol is based on weight, too. How much does your baby weigh?
For instance, infants' concentrated Tylenol liquid is dosed like this:
• 6 -11 lbs = 0.4mL
• 12-17 lbs = 0.8mL
• 18-23 lbs = 1.2mL
• 24-35 lbs = 1.6mL
I am more interested in how the fracture was discovered and why they thought it was perhaps a "birth" injury? The skull is very soft at birth..
