Lannett is the manufacturer and it is a generic drug. It has been around for many years.
Many medications have skyrocketed in price this year. I'm not sure why they've decided to make a fortune at our expense. Allot of it is the middleman. One of mine went from 75 a month to 250 a month, a 45 yr old generic. I contacted the manufacturer. I was told it hadn't had a price raise there. I then talked to my pharmacist who said their cost had gone up like that. So I decided I was in the wrong profession, I should be a drug distributor. I switched medication. Yes I have insurance, but it made me angry and I have this thing called a donut hole to worry about.
You are lucky. Mine increased from $124 / 90 day / 4 per day ~ ~ to $1,694 / 90 day / 4 per day. That is a 1,400 % increase. I contacted the manufacturer. Then I started researching. My manufacturer is Watson. The main ingredient Urso... Acid. It naturally comes from the Gall Bladder of animals. Mostly Bears. They are called Bile Bears. The Bile Bear industry in China is being shut down for humane reasons.
The good news, we can manufacture Synthetic Urso... Acid. I am still doing research. I am not sure yet if Watson is using synthetic or natural. I will check back later when I learn more.
