How long does it take to work I just feel dowsy thinking of not taking it any more
Kelly' What they normally do when you start these supplements is started on the lower doses and slowly increase which should help you get by without the drowsiness. Rarely does vitamin B6 GIVE YOU this problem but also you did not say how much you took on that one it is not uncommon to take 50 to 100mg to start and if that bothers you if it is a tablet like most of them you can split it in half. give that a try but please don't start with taking more than one 5-HTP if you need even more information please check with you, Pharmacist. 5-HTP is the precursor chemical to serotonin which our bodies convert into serotonin. Most serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) cause drowsiness too. It's reasonable to assume that the supplement is working for you and you are sensitive to it as that dose is not very high. I can take much more than that and I don't notice anything. You can try taking it at night, that might make you sleep better. It can give you vivid dreams FYI. And since you notice an effect with a supplement like that, you may be very sensitive to any prescription strength medication that affects serotonin, so be careful! Serotonin syndrome can be fatal.
