... degenerative disc disease and facet disease ThoraCIC kyphosis any help would be so appreciated. I am in so much pain... any surgery? I take pain meds but its so bad the meds don't help much!
Faith, I have same problems, except more lumbar/cervical. Neck fused C1-T1, because my neck was collapsing. Lumbar fusion too. Pain meds do little to reduce pain. I tried all kinds of meds plus injections to reduce inflammation and pain.
Ice and heat compresses relieved pain briefly. It's been 12 yrs since neck fusion, and I rarely have any trouble/pain in it. Lumbar different story :(. I had the surgery 6 yrs ago, and have had constant pain at base of my spine. After diagnostic injections, it was determined that hardware/screws were causing inflammation. 4 wks since removal of hardware and relief from that pain!
Key is a really competent orthopedic surgeon and second opinion before going with surgery. Once you start, it's like a tower of shaky dominoes-above or below fusion, vertebra may weaken over time, and further surgery may be needed. Not a step for the faint of heart!
Have you tried physical therapy? Water therapy? That I swear by since there is little to no stress on your joints.
Hope you find some relief.
