I am 41 year old female and I am going to be very sexually active again very soon?My boyfriend comes back home in a week. I am also a smoker. I need protection. What is the safest best thing out there? Condoms suck!
You cannot use hormonal contraception if you continue to smoke. It just raises the risk of complications like blood clots and strokes way too much! You are going to be stuck with barrier methods like diapragm or condoms/spermicide. I think you can use ParaGard which is the copper IUD since it doesnt have hormones-it is good for 10 years after insertion. If you are done having children, you may want to consider having tubal ligation done. You could have a good ten years or more until menopause so you may want to think about long term solutions.
