My 4 year old daughter has infexion urinary 1 year.is treated with augumentine etc but so far not any satisfactory result.decreases infection rates slow and rises again, although it continues treatment.made cistografi but normal went smoothly. Now I started treatment with baktrine since a week still have not received the results.whether to recommend any effective medication will help me many thanks.
Be sure that she finishes the complete treatment all of the days she is supposed to take the medication. Also be sure that she is drinking plenty of water to flush the urinary tract and keep her well hydrated. Also teach her to wipe from front to back (vaginal area to buttocks) after using the bathroom. Wiping from back to front ( as many little girls tend to do) can carry bacterias from the anus to the urinary opening which can then travel to the bladder causing infections. Another thing to stop is any bubble bath. Bubble bath is very harsh and it can irritate a little girls vagina and urinary opening to the point of causing infection, so no bubble bath, and be sure to use a very mild soap like Baby Magic baby bath (No More Tears) this is much milder and wont irritate her delicate tissues. Keep the vaginal/anal area clean with mild soap and water daily rinsing the soap away thoroughly. Be sure she has clean underpanties daily. Be sure she is not touching herself, especially with unwashed hands-if she hurts or itches she may touch herself which brings bacteria to the area. Make sure she urinates after taking a bath or swimming in a pool. By having her drink a lot of water, this will help her need to pee often so that helps keep the urinary tract flushed. She should not be made to hold her urine for long periods. When she needs to pee, teach her to go right away. Holding it can contribute to infections. These things I have learned over the years since I have suffered frequent reccurent infections since I was two years old. Another possiblity to consider (and I hope truly that this is NOT the problem) be watchful and aware that sometimes bladder infections and vaginal infections in very young girls can be from molestation-not always, but it IS something to be mindful of.
